Free abstract photographic 'art' background wallpapers for you desktop. This section contains very unusual abstract macro (close up) photographs, they were all created using everyday things like - hair gel, sugar granules, salt granules, dyes, washing up liquids and other soaps. These objects were then combined in various ways and lit from below with multicolored lights.

The images are all extreme macro with magnifications of about 5 - 10 times normal size, so areas of 2 - 3cm fill the screen. At these magnifications normal things can appear very abstract. All the free background wallpaper pictures are 1600x1200 and 1280x1024 pixels - saved as high quality jpegs.

To download the desktop backgrounds, just left click on the orange 'size' text below each thumbnail. A 19 / 20 " monitor is usually 1600x1200 px and a 17" is 1280x1024 px. Left click to view a large full sized image then right click on the full image and select 'save image as....'
